Paper & Ink go hand in hand….
It is not only the choice of paper that is essential in achieving a level of environmental performance but also environmental issues during the printing process and at PPS Print we are invested in the various equipment and consumables that we use in our processes.
Ink is of course a major consideration and at PPS we are increasingly using soy ink that is made from soy beans in our lithographic print. This type of ink is clearly preferable to those that draw on the world’s finite stocks of mineral oils and it also allows us to recycle more of the waste ink.
Changes in technology also allow us to make more of the latest digital print technology which uses a breakthrough toner called Emulsion Aggregation (EA). This toner is produced using 23-35% less energy per lb of toner. Combined with 40%-50% less toner needed during printing, EA technology offers an estimated 60-70% energy saving per printed page.
In particular, digital printing enables smaller runs to be completed more efficiently so it can reduce the problem of building up large stocks of brochures that eventually end up unused or out of date.
