Saying goodbye to some great friends

As a company with 40 years experience in the print industry in Peterborough we have had to cope with many changes and have also been privileged to work with a number of specialist companies in our time.

When we first started in 1975 there were a number of companies in print who were specialists in a particular area of the industry such as specialist finishing houses that we worked with. Over the years with faster turnarounds being expected and with technology becoming easier to use a number of these specialist facilities were being brought in house by print companies.

Services such as saddle stitching for books and die cutting of materials along with folding leaflets and finishing services on business cards became more cost effective for us to manage ourselves and were expected of us from our customer base.

Over the past couple of months we were sorry to hear that some of these specialist companies had closed their doors such as Andy & Vernon MacFarlane of Mac Print Finishing.

Another good company recently shutting up shop is Ken Girvan Printers, who after nearly 20 years in the print industry has taken retirement. Ken and I have known each other for many years and I would like to wish him all the very best for the future and his retirement.

Having taken over from my dad when he retired, there have been a number of changes that I have had to implement and ensure that PPS Print is moving with the times and keeping up to date with new technology and the demands from our customers for quality print. Having recently expanded the offices to cope with new machinery there are some exciting new products and services being added to our range soon and we are looking forward to the next 40 years.
